AIR QUALITY MONITORING
Air Quality Monitoring is conducted at various monitoring stations in the State and near the polluting clusters of industries. Specific parameters like Oxides of Sulphur, Oxides of Nitrogen, Respirable Particulate Matter(PM-10 & PM-2.5), etc. are monitored regularly in the ambient air quality monitoring stations.
List of Available Instruments Used For Air Monitoring:Sl.No. | Name of Instruments |
1. | Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station (CAAQMS) |
2. | Respirable Dust Sampler APM-460 (XNL) with Thermo Electrically Cooled Gaseous Sampling Attachment APM 411 TE. |
3. | Fine Particulate Sampler APM-550(MFC) |
4. | Anemometer (Digital) |
5. | Hygro-Thermo Meter (Digital) |
Sl.No. | Parameter | Method of Analysis |
1 | Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) | Modified West & Gaeke Method |
2 | Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) | Jacob & Hochheisser modified (Na-Arsine Method) |
3 | Particulate Matter (PM2.5) | FRM or Equivalent Method (Gravimetric method) |
4 | Respirable Suspended Particulate Matter (RSPM) | Gravimetrically with GFA/EPM 2000 filter paper using respirable dust sampler (Cyclonic Flow Technique) |
5 | Lead (Pb) | AAS method after sampling on EPM Filter paper |
6 | Nickel (Ni) | AAS method after sampling on EPM Filter paper |
7 | Arsenic (As) | AAS method after sampling on EPM Filter paper |
The Tripura State Pollution Control Board is operating 2 (two) nos. of ambient air quality monitoring stations under National Air Monitoring Programme (NAMP) in collaboration with Central Pollution Control Board. To know the details of two Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations please CLICK HERE
The air pollutants viz. Particulate Matter (PM10), Particulate Matter (PM2.5), Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) have been monitored. The ambient air quality samples were collected as per the standards prescribed by CPCB. The data pertaining to all the ambient air have been uploaded in the Environmental Air Quality Entry System (E-AQ-DES) of the CPCB portal for compilation and preparation of report.
Apart from the manual air monitoring stations, one continuous ambient air quality monitoring station (CAAQMS) was also installed at Kunjaban residential area to monitor the ambient air quality on real time basis. The data obtained from the CAAQMS are also used for the determination of National Air Quality Index (AQI). To know about the ambient air quality data, please click on the links below:
The Laboratory Division of Tripura State Pollution Control Board is conducting ambient air quality monitoring during various festive seasons throughout the State.
Laxmi Puja
Tripura State Pollution Control Board is conducting Air Quality Monitoring in 5 (five) locations around the State for 04 (four) parameters like RSPM(PM-10), PM-2.5, SO2 & NO2 on the occasion of Laxmi Puja. The details of the monitoring locations can seen HERE.
Deepabali
Tripura State Pollution Control Board is conducting Air Quality Monitoring in 5 (five) locations around the State for 04 (four) regulatory parameters like RSPM(PM-10), PM-2.5, SO2 & NO2 for consecutive 14 days on the occasion of Deepabali as per the direction dated 23-10-2018 of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 728 of 2015 . The details of the monitoring locations can seen HERE.
In compliance with the order of the Hon’ble High court of Tripura regarding Ambient Air Quality Monitoring in and around the brick kiln clusters of Tripura; Tripura State Pollution Control Board has been monitoring the air quality in and around the brick kiln clusters of Tripura during season (January to April) and off-season (August to October) every year to assess the pollution load due to operation of brick kilns.
The ambient air quality monitoring reports in and around the brick kiln clusters of Tripura are listed below:-Sampling Charges for Ambient Air Samples
Type of Sampling | Charges (INR) |
Sampling (up to each 8 hrs.) for suspended particulate matter and gaseous pollutants | 2000.00 |
