Proposed Road Network

Presently NH-44 is the lifeline of Tripura as about 29% of total habitations of T ripura are within a distance of three miles along NH-44. The existing national highway from Kumarghat to Sabroom will continue to act as a corridor of national significance. However for the development of backward Blocks, there emerges a possibility of development of north-south corridors, which by and large honours the terrain/physiography of the State and in most cases run on the existing road network. The proposed growth axis is only the up-gradation of Other District Road to Major District Road. The main corridors/axis need to be upgraded are:

  • Santibazar, Belonia, Sonamura, Melaghar to Bishalgarh
  • Khowai, Teliamura to Amarpur
  • Kamalpur, Ambassa to Dumburnagar 4. Manu to Chamanu
  • Udaipur to Amarpur
  • Ambassa to Gandachara
  • Kailashahar via kumarghat to Kanchanpur
