Tripura State Pollution Control Board

The Tripura State Pollution Control Board was set up by the Government of Tripura in the year 1988 under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution ) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution ) Act, 1981. Accordingly, Rules namely the Tripura State Pollution Control Board (Water Pollution Control ) Rules, 1989 and the Tripura State Pollution Control Board ( Air Pollution Control) Rules, 1989 have been framed under both the Acts. The Head Office of the Board is located at Agartala with three Zonal Offices located at Ambassa, Kumarghat and Udaipur.

Consent Management

As per section 21 of the Air (Prevention and Control) Act.1981. and section 25/26 of Water (Prevention and control of Pollution ) Act 1974 the Industries are required to take Consent Certificate before establishment and running of industries in the State of Tripura

Waste Management

Waste Management is the process of treating solid wastes and offers variety of solutions for recycling items that don’t belong to trash. It is about how garbage can be used as a valuable resource. Waste management is intended to reduce adverse effects of waste on health, the environment or aesthetics.

Environment Education

Environment Education is one of the important division of the Board which allows individuals to explore environmental issues, engage in problem solving, and take action to improve the environment. Educational Institutes and various NGOs are benefited by this division.

Laboratory and R&D

The Tripura State Pollution Control Board established its Environmental Laboratory in 2002 to asses Water Quality, Air Quality & Noise Level of the State.The laboratory also performs all routine analytical works and also undertakes research programmes.
