Horticulture
  • The State has about 5% land under horticulture and has potential for about 5% additional lands for putting under horticultural use The areas to be benefited include Tulashikhar, Kalyanpur, Mandai, Boxanagar, Melaghar, Pecharthal, Damchhera, Jampuihill, Dasda, Kadamtala, Panisagar, Gaurnagar, Kumarghat, Manu, Chhamanu, Salema, Ambassa, Dumburnagar, Kakraban, Rupaichhara and Satchand.
  • The existing tilla lands are highly suitable for plantation of citrus fruit crops like pineapple, mandarin orange, jackfruit, litchi, etc., and for spices like black pepper, ginger, etc. and cash crops like tea, rubber, jute etc. Tilla lands should be used for horticultural crops, which will provide gainful employment to the primary sector.
  • Integrating the production with processing and marketing should be done, which will create employment in secondary and tertiary sector, as well.
